The December Dilema

December is one of the best months [Christmas, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Christmas cookies, Christmas parties...] making it the easiest month for poor eating & weight gain. With Otter baby celebrating this holiday season in it's warm womb bed, I'm trying to be extra careful about how many sweets I indulge in. Sugar isn't good for either of us. We will be attending six Christmas parties in the next few weeks.

& that's the December Dilema. I've read from various sources that on average, Americans gain 3-6 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Wow. While I'm supposed to be gaining weight, that's not the kind of weight I want to gain.

Solution: no buying sweets. no exceptions. [fruit doesn't count! & neither does syrup for pancakes]

We don't buy sweets often anyways, but by cutting them out of our grocery list entirely we will:   1. save $$$$$$$$ [hello buying baby things!!] and 2. feel no guilt after eating my fourth cookie, sixth chocolate covered peanut butter ball, & tenth piece of fudge.

[thanks pal Alyssa Allen for the inspiration for this brilliant idea]

Baby Updates:
-16 weeks & 5 days
-turnip size [i don't know what that is: Matt says it's about the size of a baseball]
-feeling more baby kicks. tiny kicks. like little pokes.
-officially unable to wear pre-pregnancy pants [with the exception of one pair]
-finally gained some weight. up 7 pounds from my original weight! The midwife was very happy about that
-best news= we find out if Otter is a 'he' or 'she' on December 21st. Matt thinks 'he'. I don't know.

  1. Best way to not eat sweets/unhealthy is to not have it in the house to eat!

    Good stuff!
